We're here to help keep your dogs and cats healthy

Services:
We are a full service veterinary facility. Annual vaccinations for both Rabies and Distemper are required in order to receive services. An annual heartworm test is required in order to purchase heartworm prevention. All pets must be microchipped to receive services.
In addition to routine health check-ups and vaccinations
, we also perform spaying and neutering, and a wide range of other surgical procedures (see right). However, due to limited staffing, the veterinary clinic is not able to provide overnight hospitalization except in rare, severe cases.

Mission Statement:
The U.S. Army Misawa Branch Veterinary Services primary missions are public health issues, care of Military Working Dogs, and care of privately owned pets. Full service medical care is provided for pets of authorized personnel in Misawa.

Important Policies:

Breeding Policy
U.S. Army regulation prohibits provision of veterinary care to clients that breed their pets for profit, whether the pet to be bred is male or female, or whether the offspring is intended for sale or production. Clients who engage in breeding of their pets will have all veterinary privileges revoked, and their command will be notified.

Children Policy
For numerous health and safety reasons, bringing children under the age of 12 years old into the veterinary clinic is not recommended. Please note that your children's behavior and safety while in the clinic is your responsibility. Children may not be left unattended at any time.

Missed Appointments
If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please notify the veterinary clinic 24 hours prior to your appointment.  Clients who miss three scheduled appointments without notifying us in advance will have all routine veterinary privileges revoked for 12 months.

Pets in the VTF
ALL pets in the Veterinary Treatment Facility must be on a short leash or in a carrier. If your pet is not on a leash or in a carrier, you will be asked to go outside until your appointment time. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet. There are suitable cleaning materials located at the front desk.

Payment For Services
Payment is due when services are rendered. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, personal check, Visa, and Mastercard.  The veterinary clinic operates as a Non-Appropriated Fund Organization and receives no monetary support from the U.S. government.

Important Information
Bringing Your Pet to Misawa:

The Japan District Veterinary Command has information about the requirements for the importation of pets into Japan. Please go to the following Web site to get the forms that you will need to bring your pets. http://www.usarj.army.mil/organization/vet/import.aspx
This will help alleviate any discrepancies that might arise in the near future.

Health Certificates and Quarantine Releases
Health Certificates are needed to leave the island with your pet. Please make an appointment as close to the time that you leave that is possible. Health Certificates are only good for ten days for travel; in the event that your flight is delayed or you don’t leave the day that you planned, it will save you a trip back to the vet.
Quarantine release appointments are mandatory. If you do not have your animal released from quarantine, the Government of Japan can fine you up to 50,000 Yen per animal. These appointments can be made at the Veterinary Clinic and your animal MUST be present. This appointment also helps you learn about our services and gives you the opportunity to address any concerns that you may have.
